I'm so intrigued to see this! Howard Johnson and I used to have the "piston vs. rotary valve" conversation all the time. He was very much in favor of Piston valves and, as a tubist, he had the option to choose. I've wanted to try a piston Horn especially for jazz playing for a long time!

I've always liked the idea of learning french horn. In the past I tried basing my version of Angel Eyes on yours but using trumpet. Now some years later I don't play either and am looking for nice examples of jazz on both, with the idea of being inspired to playing one or the other.. there's really not much else out there in terms of great french horn soloist clips, most of the best horn videos seem to be of you, and there's one clip with the Quincy Jones Orchestra.. im not sure what to make of the situation, but good work making the horn sound great for all these years!

I like this - first time play along this way with my speaker system - never done jazz before but what great training - it is motivating and the learning is fast. Like having a tutor beside me. Excellent. 3 days later . . . went through the first half almost bang on - was wonderful. Getting those high notes bang on will take a bit of work, and the runs etc. but this is FUN! I love it! And the tone - wow, it is really developing nicely - warm and smooth. almost sexy!~
